Stayed here for the Smokey Mountain Recumbent Trike Rally. I was able to cycle to the starting point at a motel a couple of miles away from the KOA because the road has a great bike path that runs along side it. Very nice and clean campground. I was tenting. There was a chance of a bad storm and the manager stopped by to tell me that if it got too bad there was a place inside where I could stay. Fortunately, it wasn't bad. There are tent sights on the stream. Very nice! You can also see people on tubes floating past. Fun! KOA is very close to entrance of Smokey Mountain National Park and Cades Cove. I enjoyed my stay here very much. Will go back next year but this time I want a site by the stream.
Townsend KOA is our favorite place to visit! We get the same campsite every year and we absolutely love the staff! Craig and Beth are from our part of Ohio and we're always made to feel like family when we visit. The campground is in "the quite part of the Smoky Mountains" and it is a beautiful setting.
I didn't actually visit this place I live in Townsend. It is a great place to live very quiet and peaceful and best of all not a lot of traffic. The only downside is the only grocery store we have is in the IGA and they are very expensive. And most of the stores close about 10 so if you're a night owl that makes it kind of hard. And the nearest Walmart is 45 minutes away.
This campground is awesome! Staff were great and helpful. The grounds are well maintained and bathrooms are clean. We didn't have children with us this time but if we did they would've had plenty to do! We will be back again!
Easily one of the best family campgrounds in the region. This was our third time camping here and we booked a site right on the river. We don't repeat many campgrounds, but this one is worth it. You can rent tubes at the office, jump in the river right behind your site, and then get a ride back to the top. The best run is right along the campground, so some choose to ride this part over and over, and just skip the slower part of the river. There's also a very nice pool, large playground, and they have activities for the kids too. Sites are clean and very well maintained.
